INTRODUCTION

Recognized world wide the giraffe is the world tallest mammal with adult males reaching over 20 feet tall! Despite their awkward looking bodies, giraffes can run up to 35 mph over short distances! Eating shrubs that most animals can’t the giraffe use their 21 inch tongue to grab food. Besides males being larger another easy way to tell the sex of the animal is looking at the horns. Female giraffes will have hair on the horns and males will not. Hunting the giraffe is hard and requires a lot of spotting and stalking to get into position without the giraffe and it’s eyes looking above the African bushveld seeing you.

Giraffes have excellent eyesight and a huge height advantage which can sometimes make them very difficult to hunt if not used to vehicles and humans approaching them on foot.

 

 


THE HUNTING

With the giraffes keen eyesight and senses this makes for quite hunt! Trying to get into a position to be able to harvest these long necks beats is an enduring challenge for every hunter.
